Hex Discs for Atari CX-10 Joysticks

hex discsThe very first models of the Atari VCS (later, Atari 2600) came bundled with CX-10 joysticks.  While these joysticks look almost identical to the much more common CX-40 joysticks bundled with later models, there are subtle visual differences.  One is the absence of the word “Top” from the orange dial around the stick (there is only a directional arrow like those in the other three cardinal directions).  Another is the presence of a “hex disc” capping the top of the stick.  These small aluminum discs often fell off the CX-10, so it is rare to see them still attached — or unattached, for that matter.

Your Heavy Sixer is not really complete in box without a pair of hex discs adorning your CX-10s.  An eager collector must have have been thinking the same thing when he hit this Buy It Now listing for $80 in January 2014.
