Minestorm II may be the second-rarest game for the Vectrex console, behind only the legendary Mr. Boston variant of Clean Sweep. The Vectrex’s built-in Minestorm game contained a bug that would crash the game once it reached Level 13. Consumers who complained to the manufacturer would receive a debugged version of the game on cartridge: Minestorm II. Because it would take a very good Minestorm player to reach Level 13, many owners may never have been aware of the bug, requiring the manufacturer to produce a relatively small number of cartridges.
In June 2013, a seller in France listed this copy of Minestorm II on eBay. The outer box is not original, as Minestorm II was distributed as a loose cartridge only. It sold for $565 after 33 bids. I have never seen another Minestorm II offered for sale on eBay.
Hey Guys,
look at this auction for the rare Cardridge MineStorm 2!!!
Not cheap, but very special!
I also had one of these, and a friend has a 2nd to this day. They were given to us by VP Lee Chaden at the GCE offices in Santa Monica, CA. My father was one of the hardware engineers and my friend and I managed to beat MS1 so we were given free copies of MS2.
